TikTok influencer Jos, known by her handle @nnnnylsoj, opened up about a distressing experience with TSA agents that left her humiliated and in tears at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The 21-year-old, who has over 1.8 million followers on the platform, shared the ordeal in a vulnerable video on May 25, describing how what began as a simple baggage error quickly escalated into a public confrontation that left her feeling small, mocked, and completely defeated.
According to Jos, she had mistakenly checked in the wrong bag before boarding her flight to London. Realizing the mistake, she approached a female TSA agent for help. The agent allowed her to switch the bags and instructed her to re-enter security through the priority line. Jos followed those directions exactly, but once she entered the line, a male TSA agent stopped her and accused her of being in the wrong place.
When she pointed to the female agent for clarification, hoping to clear up the situation, the woman denied ever telling her to use that line. The refusal to take responsibility shocked Jos, and her attempt to explain herself was met with increasing hostility.
“I was mortified,” she said, holding back tears in her TikTok video. “They were yelling, making fun of me, and the female agent who initially helped me was standing there laughing.” Jos said she felt ganged up on and powerless, especially when her security tray didn't advance down the conveyor belt, prompting more yelling from TSA agents who blamed her for the delay.
When she finally managed to push the bin through herself, the agents sarcastically said, “Now you can have a fun trip.” The remark, which Jos described as extremely condescending, pushed her over the edge emotionally.
Once through security, Jos filmed herself in the bathroom, wiping tears from her face and struggling to articulate how shaken she felt. “I’ve never cried at an airport before,” she said. “I was just trying to fix a mistake. I didn’t deserve to be treated like that.”
The video quickly went viral, amassing over 2.5 million views and hundreds of thousands of likes within 24 hours. In the comments, her followers rallied around her with messages of support and outrage. Many said they had experienced similar treatment at airports and encouraged her to report the incident to the TSA.
“Some of those agents act like they’ve never had a bad day in their lives,” one commenter wrote. “You handled it better than I would have.” Another user added, “This is exactly why people get anxious traveling. No empathy, no accountability.”
While the TSA has not made a public comment regarding the incident, Jos's story has ignited discussions online about professionalism among airport security personnel and the emotional toll their behavior can take on travelers.
Jos ended her video by urging others not to let situations like this deter them from speaking up. “Just because someone’s in a uniform doesn’t mean they get to humiliate you. I didn’t do anything wrong, and no one else should be made to feel this way either.”
