Content creator Morgan Riddle has opened up about a disturbing experience from nearly a decade ago, claiming that someone she once considered a close friend attempted to secretly put a powdered substance into her drink.
Riddle, 29, shared the allegation in an August 9 TikTok video, explaining that the incident occurred in 2017 while she was spending time with the male friend. According to Riddle, the two were drinking together on a balcony when he went inside to get additional drinks. While watching him through a window, she said she saw him pour an unidentified powder into her beverage.
The moment immediately changed how she viewed someone she had trusted. Riddle described the experience as a profound betrayal and said the friend had also been asking sexual questions that made her uncomfortable before the alleged incident. Rather than allowing the experience to exist only in her memory, Riddle decided the following morning to create a detailed written record.
She sent an email to herself documenting what she said had happened, including the circumstances surrounding the night and the behavior that had made her feel unsafe. The message was dated in 2017, providing a time-stamped account created shortly after the alleged incident. Years later, Riddle is sharing that decision as advice for other women who may encounter threatening or inappropriate behavior.
She explained that contemporaneous documentation can potentially become important if allegations involving the same person emerge later. A record created at the time of an incident may help establish when concerns were first documented rather than relying entirely on memories recorded years afterward.
Riddle emphasized that she hopes she will never need to use the email for legal purposes. Still, knowing that a detailed record exists has provided a form of protection if circumstances ever change. Her latest revelation fits into a broader pattern of using her online platform to discuss women's safety.
Riddle has previously spoken publicly about another frightening experience during a trip to Acapulco, Mexico. She claimed that two men attempted to grab her on a beach before chasing her, forcing her to run and call for help from hotel security guards. That incident occurred while she was traveling for a tennis tournament involving her former boyfriend, professional player Taylor Fritz.
Riddle has also discussed other unsettling situations she encountered while traveling, including a break-in at an Airbnb in Santorini. Through those stories, she has repeatedly encouraged female travelers to remain aware of their surroundings even while enjoying unfamiliar destinations.
The influencer has built a substantial audience through a combination of fashion, travel, lifestyle and tennis-related content. Her public profile grew considerably during her relationship with Fritz, whom she began dating in 2020 before the couple separated earlier this year. Her newest story, however, carries a considerably more serious message than much of her usual lifestyle content.
Riddle has not publicly identified the former friend she accused, and the substance she says she saw being placed in the drink has not been independently established. Her account therefore remains an allegation based on her recollection and the documentation she says she created afterward.
By discussing the experience nine years later, Riddle said her intention was ultimately about helping other women protect themselves. Her message focused on trusting uncomfortable instincts, documenting concerning encounters and recognizing that dangerous situations can sometimes involve people who were previously considered trustworthy.
For Riddle, the most unsettling part of the experience was not simply what she claims happened to her drink. It was realizing that the person she believed she could trust may have been the person putting her in danger.
