Influencer Hannah Moody Found Dead Near Arizona Trail

Hannah Moody, a 31-year-old hiker and social media influencer known for sharing her outdoor adventures and spiritual reflections, was found dead near the Gateway Trailhead of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale, Arizona, on May 22, 2025. She had been reported missing the previous evening after failing to return from a hike.
Moody's friends reported her disappearance around 7:50 p.m. on May 21 when she did not return from her hike. Authorities located her vehicle at the trailhead and attempted to contact her via phone, but were unsuccessful. A search was launched that evening using drones, officers on foot, and a Phoenix Police Department helicopter but was suspended around 11:30 p.m.
Search efforts resumed the next morning with additional resources, including the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and over 20 officers. Moody’s body was discovered by the Sheriff’s Air Unit approximately 600 yards off the trail. Authorities reported no immediate signs of foul play or trauma, and an investigation involving the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is underway to determine the cause of death.
Moody had nearly 50,000 followers on Instagram, where she shared her hiking experiences and Christian motivational content. Her final post reflected on finding positivity in adversity, citing Romans 8:28.
Her family described her as a free spirit and a dedicated individual constantly seeking self-improvement. Her brothers, Joel and Ethan Moody, expressed profound sorrow and remembered her passion for life and exploration.
The discovery of her body has deeply shocked her loved ones and followers. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
