Brazilian social-media creator Bárbara Jankavski widely known online as “Boneca Desumana” or the “Human Barbie” due to her extensive cosmetic surgeries has died at age 31. The incident occurred on November 2 in São Paulo and authorities are treating the case as suspicious.
Jankavski gained notoriety for freely documenting her transformation journey, which included a facelift received in June as well as multiple surgeries intended to give her a doll-like appearance. Her social-media following comprised more than 55,000 Instagram followers and approximately 344,000 TikTok followers.
According to a police report cited by CNN Brasil, a 51-year-old public defender, Renato Campos Pinto de Vitto, had engaged Jankavski for “sexual services” and claimed they used illicit substances together. When Jankavski became unresponsive, de Vitto said he attempted resuscitation for nine minutes before emergency services arrived.
Reports indicate that when authorities arrived, Jankavski was found wearing only underwear and exhibited a facial injury and marks on her back; a friend later attributed the facial injury to a past fall. The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat has ordered an autopsy and toxicology tests to determine the cause of death, which is currently registered as “suspect.”
Social‐media users and fans paid tribute in the comments beneath her last Instagram post shared on October 1 expressing shock and sadness over her sudden passing. “Rest in peace diva, you lived a life many dream of,” one follower wrote.
While the investigation is ongoing, Jankavski’s death highlights the increasingly complex dynamics of influencer culture, cosmetic-surgery exposure and the real-world risks that sometimes accompany internet-famous personas.
