A 39-year-old man from Horsham, West Sussex, has been convicted of stalking American travel influencer Alexandra Saper, who resides in Bali, Indonesia. Rob Keating was found guilty on May 14 at Portsmouth Crown Court of two counts of stalking, following a prolonged campaign of harassment that spanned multiple countries.

Keating's obsession began in June 2022 when he started contacting Ms. Saper via Instagram. Despite being blocked, he continued his pursuit through personal emails, sending hundreds of messages and 30 videos over six months. His communications escalated to threats of kidnapping and rape, including sending a photo of a body in a suitcase accompanied by menacing messages.

In December 2022, Keating traveled to Bali, sending Ms. Saper photos from locations near her residence, confirming his presence on the island. Fearing for her safety, Ms. Saper fled her home and eventually left the country. Keating was arrested at Gatwick Airport in March 2023 but continued his harassment, posting a video titled "Round Two" and sharing flight details to Bali.

Ms. Saper described the ordeal as life-altering, stating, "I felt so disempowered, it just rattled my whole sense of identity." She emphasized the challenges in getting authorities to act, despite substantial evidence. Keating is scheduled for sentencing on July 25.

This case highlights the growing issue of online stalking and the need for robust international cooperation to protect individuals from digital harassment that transcends borders.
