Yasmim Ângela Feitosa de Souza, a popular social-media personality known for her lifestyle and cooking content, died on November 12, 2025, at the age of 26 just two days after celebrating her birthday in Petrolina, Brazil.
According to her mother, Yasmim had spent the day of her 26th birthday in high spirits. She ran errands, shopped with her mother and appeared healthy, before later sharing alcohol with two friends in the evening. The trio consumed approximately 1.5 litres of whiskey, according to the family, and Yasmim began feeling ill later that night. By the next day she had died at home, prompting an investigation into possible toxic alcohol ingestion.
Hospital records at the University Hospital of Univasf in the region indicated that they received a patient with symptoms consistent with methanol poisoning. The bottle of whiskey consumed is reportedly under analysis by authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.
Yasmim had cultivated a social-media presence of more than 23,000 Instagram followers, where she shared lifestyle photos, cooking videos and posts with her fiancé. Her final Instagram update was on November 5 and featured a screenshot of a message exchange with her partner, whose engagement she revealed in October with a post celebrating “our forever”.
Her sudden passing has shocked her followers and raised concerns about the dangers of tainted alcohol in Brazil a country that has seen multiple fatalities linked to illegally produced spirits and poisoning outbreaks. The incident underscores the risks faced in informal drinking scenarios and the tragic consequences that can follow.
In her tribute, Yasmim’s mother described the ordeal with heartbreak. She recalled her daughter laughing and enjoying the birthday outing then becoming ill “at night” and being unable to save her. The family has asked for privacy as investigations continue and funeral preparations are made for her burial on November 13.
This story resonates beyond just one life lost. It reflects on influencer culture intersecting with everyday risks, the vulnerability behind public-facing personas and the critical issue of alcohol safety in social settings. Yasmim’s brand may have been joyful and light-hearted, but her passing draws attention to how quickly circumstances can change.
